During a rally in Loha tehsil in Nanded district of Maharashtra, Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao addressed the issue of the condition of farmers in India. He stated that the situation has not improved in the last 75 years, despite the Congress party being in power for 54 years and the BJP later taking over. To change this, he called for unity among agriculturists. KCR also mentioned that the Maharashtra government decided to provide Rs 6,000 assistance to farmers only after he addressed a gathering in Nanded last month.
KCR emphasized the need for farmers to unite, not divide along religious lines. He stated that 41 crore acres of land in India is suitable for agriculture and that each farmer should receive Rs 10,000 per acre to invest in agricultural activities. He criticized Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for suggesting that KCR should concentrate on Telangana and called for 24-hour water, free electricity, and purchase of yield for farmers in Maharashtra.
KCR also discussed the smart utilization of natural resources such as coal and water. He stated that only 19,000 TMC of water out of 75,000 TMC is being utilized and that ample coal could provide electricity for the next 125 years to the country. Despite this, farmers are still facing problems. KCR announced that the BRS would contest Panchayat elections in Maharashtra and that membership drives would be organized.
Former Lok Sabha MP from Maharashtra Haribhau Rathod, ex-MLAs Shankar Dhondge and Harshvardhan Jadhav, and local political leaders joined the BRS in the presence of KCR at the rally on Sunday. KCR concluded by stating that if Telangana can improve, a state like Maharashtra with more resources can also improve.
