KCR selects Nanded to prioritize development in underdeveloped districts

The BRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao is directing his attention towards Nanded in Marathwada, which is often referred to as the ‘Telangana of Maharashtra’. The aim is to capitalize on the backwardness of the districts, which are similar to Telangana, and promote schemes that can be spread across the state. The party leaders have been working hard in villages and towns, explaining to people how districts in Telangana, which were once similar to Marathwada, have transformed and prospered since the formation of the separate state. The party is also promoting its slogan ‘Abki Baar Kisan Sarkar’.

The party leaders camping in Kandar Loha, where the party is holding its second public meeting on March 26, have said that people living in Marathwada feel neglected compared to other regions. The party has announced that it will contest local body elections in Maharashtra and is expecting good results from the region. The party got a boost when Nationalist Congress Farmers’ Union leader and former MLA Shankar Anna Ghondge decided to join the party during the public meeting at Kandar Loha.

Ghondge has pointed out that there is a similarity between Marathwada and Telangana, but while Telangana has been flourishing with greenery and development, Marathwada remains economically backward. He believes that if Telangana can achieve so much within eight years, Marathwada can do the same. Party leaders have also hinted that Ghondge may be made the BRS Maharashtra chief.

Although there are Assembly elections in Karnataka, the party is not planning to contest them there. Armoor MLA A Jeevan Reddy has said that people in Maharashtra are keen to see schemes being implemented in Telangana and are waiting to welcome Chief Minister KCR, who they believe has transformed the state with his inspirational schemes and become a role model for the country. According to Reddy, people are supporting the public meeting that is scheduled to be held at Kandar Loha.
