Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed deep shock at the demise of eminent Agricultural Scientist, Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and Padma Vibhushan, MS Swaminathan. Swaminathan brought revolutionary and qualitative changes to India’s traditional farming sector with innovative methods. His efforts led to India achieving self-sufficiency in food grain production and the Green Revolution. Swaminathan was the first scientist to dedicate his entire life to achieving food security and meeting the country’s demands. The CM recalled his memorable interactions with Swaminathan during his visit to Telangana state, where they discussed invaluable suggestions. Swaminathan also appreciated the state government’s programs for the development of the irrigation sector. The CM acknowledged that filling the void left by Swaminathan would be difficult and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
