In Hyderabad, BRS MLC K Kavitha faced a setback before the Lok Sabha election as the Rouse Avenue Court extended her judicial custody until April 23.
Kavitha appeared in court on Tuesday after the Enforcement Directorate requested an extension of custody for another 14 days. The ED accused Kavitha of tampering with evidence and influencing witnesses. Despite her counsel’s objections, the court decided to keep her in custody.
Unable to speak in court, Kavitha handed a four-page letter to the media outside, denying any involvement in the alleged scam. She claimed that the case was based on unfounded statements and aimed to tarnish her political reputation.
Kavitha also expressed frustration with media coverage, accusing investigative agencies of invading her privacy by sharing her personal phone numbers on television. She emphasized her cooperation with probe agencies and denied allegations of damaging cell phones.
During her time in Tihar Jail, Kavitha was questioned by the CBI about WhatsApp chats and documents related to a land deal. These documents allegedly showed a payment of Rs 100 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party in exchange for favorable excise policies for a liquor lobby.
