Kavitha's bail petition remains unheard as judge takes leave

BRS MLC K Kavitha’s bail petition was not heard on Tuesday at the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi because the judge, Kaveri Baweja, was on leave. The next hearing is expected to take place on either April 22 or 23.

Kavitha has been in judicial custody until April 23. Her bail petition, filed by the Enforcement Directorate, was scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday but had to be postponed.

In her petition, Kavitha claimed that her arrest was unlawful and motivated by political reasons. She argued that the Court should grant her bail because she was cooperating with the investigation, is a woman, has medical issues, and needs to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She is currently being held at Tihar Jail.

The Enforcement Directorate has opposed granting bail to Kavitha, arguing that she is a powerful figure who may influence witnesses. Kavitha’s judicial custody is set to expire on April 23.
