Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from the BRS party, is set to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the second time on Thursday in connection with the Delhi Liquor scam case. The ED is investigating alleged money laundering activities related to the scam, and Kavitha had previously filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking protection from arrest by the ED. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear her case on March 24.
Kavitha had already appeared before the ED on March 11 to record her statement. Before heading to the ED office, Kavitha is expected to address the media. Several ministers from Telangana, including KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, E Dayakar Rao, Satyavati Rathod, and P Sabita Indra Reddy, have also traveled to Delhi to offer moral support to the BRS leader.
The Delhi Liquor scam case involves allegations of illegal sale and distribution of liquor during the COVID-19 lockdown period last year. The ED is investigating possible money laundering activities related to the scam, and several people have already been arrested in connection with the case. Kavitha’s appearance before the ED is part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.
