Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha criticized the BJP for not fulfilling its promise of Women’s Reservation, accusing them of deceiving the people twice. She questioned why the BJP, with a majority in Parliament, did not pass the women’s reservation bill. Kavitha demanded the Centre to bring the legislation. Her response came after BJP Telangana president G Kishan Reddy commented on the low number of tickets given to women in the BRS list announced by party chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday.
Kavitha pointed out that there is already an Act providing reservations for women in local bodies, resulting in 14 lakh women public representatives in the country. She emphasized that without a new Act, there will be no change in the situation. Kavitha challenged the Congress and the BJP to see how many seats they will allocate to women. She also urged the BJP chief not to link the ticket issue with women’s reservation.
Kavitha reminded everyone that Chief Minister KCR had advocated for increasing Parliament seats three times and providing reservations for women. She called on Kishan Reddy to address this matter and expressed hope that someone from the BJP would acknowledge her demand.
