Karimnagar Students Set Up Model Vegetable Market

Karimnagar District Collector Pamela Satpathy encouraged students to develop business skills while continuing their studies.

On Monday, she inaugurated a model vegetable market at Kashmir Gadda Rythu Bazaar in Karimnagar. This market was set up by students using vegetables grown in government schools. The initiative was organized by the District Education Department in collaboration with the Janya Foundation.

During her visit, the Collector interacted with the students and observed their stalls. She urged them to understand the challenges faced by farmers who provide the food we consume. She emphasized that farmers’ hard work ensures the availability of food, and students should appreciate their efforts.

Satpathy also highlighted the importance of business skills. She encouraged students to sell their produce effectively and educate consumers about the benefits of organically grown vegetables. She suggested that parents should be made aware of the advantages of organic products so they can use them more in their daily lives.

To support the students, the District Collector personally purchased vegetables from them. The model market involved 60 students from 12 selected government schools in the district. District Education Officer (DEO) Janardhan Rao and other education officials also bought vegetables to support the initiative.

The event was a milestone for the district, as it was the first time students had set up a market to sell organically grown vegetables. The Collector and officials engaged with the community, helping students sell their produce successfully.

Several officials, including District Science Officer Jaipal Reddy, Coordinators Ashok Reddy and Srinivas, Janya Foundation Operation Manager Surender, and other education department staff, participated in the program along with students.
