A live viewing program was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammikunta on Tuesday. The program was about the release of the first installment of this year under the 17th PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister of State for Hydropower and Railways Somanna was the chief guest at the event. He mentioned that the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was launched by the Central government in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh in February 2019. The scheme aims to provide crop investment assistance to farmers across the country. Farmers will receive Rs 6,000 as assistance, directly deposited into their bank accounts. Approximately Rs 20,000 crore will be distributed to 9.26 crore farmers as part of the 17th tranche of the scheme.

Dr. Sheikh S. Meera from Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute noted that India has a large number of small farmers, about 80% of the total. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was established to offer financial support to these farmers. He also mentioned that there will be an 85% subsidy on agri drones in agriculture and urged women and farmers to take advantage of the training provided.

Furthermore, Paripati Janardhan Reddy, the General Secretary of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, requested the Union Minister to provide insurance for farmers to ensure their protection and their families’ security. He emphasized the importance of soil health in agriculture for human survival. Dr. S. Venkateshwar Rao, Senior Scientist & Head at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, shared that around 29.50 lakh farmers in Telangana have benefited from the scheme, receiving Rs 590 crore. In Karimnagar district alone, 90515 farmers have received Rs 18.1 crore.

The event was attended by Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, District Collector Pamela Satpathy, Huzurabad RDO, Krishi Vigyan Kendra staff, ideal farmers, agricultural & allied officers, and local farmers.
