Nagar Kurnool: Kalwakurthy MLA Kasireddy Narayana Reddy recently distributed safety kits to 56 toddy tappers from Ajilapur village in Taranikal Veldanda Mandal. The event took place at his local camp office.
During the event, MLA Kasireddy Narayana Reddy explained that the Telangana government is focused on the welfare of toddy tappers. To help prevent accidents while climbing palm trees, the government, with technical support from IIT Hyderabad, designed these safety kits. He noted that each kit is worth around 10,000 rupees and is being provided to toddy tappers who have completed training in the first phase.
He further mentioned that a total of 121 toddy tappers from the Kalwakurthy excise circle will receive these safety kits. These kits can be used alongside traditional leg gear to improve safety during palm tree climbing.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLAs Kasireddy Narayana Reddy and Kuchukulla Rajesh Reddy, Excise CI J Venkata Reddy, BC Welfare Officer Sriram, and representatives of the toddy tappers, such as Parashuram Goud and Shekhar Goud, along with many toddy tappers themselves.
