Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, one of the largest irrigation projects in Telangana, has been progressing rapidly. The authorities have been working towards their goal of providing water to the farmlands by linking the Godavari River through the project. Several barrages and pump houses have been constructed in different districts to fulfill this objective.
Under the project, the Lakshmi Barrage in Mahadevpur Mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district has started supplying 19,200 cubic meters of water to the Godavari River. In addition, the Saraswati Barrage in Siripuram Mandal of Manthani Mandal in Peddapalli district is providing 11,720 cubic meters of water, while the Parvathi Pump House in Gollavada Mandal of Antarvedi Mandal in Jagtial district is supplying 10,440 cubic meters of water. These pump houses are equipped with motors to facilitate the flow of water.
Furthermore, the Kaleshwaram Jalal Tunnel has been transporting water from Nandimedaram Mandal in Dharmaram Mandal of Nandipet to the Ramapuram Pump House in Karimnagar district. Through this tunnel, 6,300 cubic meters of water is being pumped into the reservoir. Additionally, the Gayatri Pump House in Lakshmipuram Mandal of Ramadugu Mandal in Karimnagar district is receiving water through an underground tunnel from the Shanthinagar Pump House in Mulugu district. This pump house is supplying 6,300 cubic meters of water to the Apraoch Canal.
Recently, the authorities have successfully installed gates at the Shahnagar Shivaru Locks, which is located 102 kilometers away from the Sangareddy Pump House. These gates will facilitate the flow of water to the Malial Mandal in Rampur Pump House through reverse pumping. Moreover, the Rajeshwara Pump House in Ramadugu Mandal of Tellavarum Mandal is now receiving water from the Rajeshwara Pet Pump House in Tellavarum Mandal through an underground tunnel. This achievement has been made within a span of just three days.
Meanwhile, the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project in Kannayigudem Mandal of Mulugu district has also started pumping water through one motor. This project aims to supply water from the Godavari River to the Bhimghar Reservoir, providing irrigation water to the agricultural fields. The Devadula motors are currently delivering 294 cubic meters of water per day.
With these significant developments, the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project are making remarkable progress in providing water for irrigation purposes. The completion of these projects will greatly benefit the farmers of Telangana and contribute to the overall growth of the agricultural sector in the state.
