Jupalli Krishna Rao, the MLA from Kollapur, has returned to the Congress party and become a Minister once again. He began his political career in 1999 as an MLA from Kollapur on a Congress ticket. In the 2004 elections, he won as an independent candidate.
Jupalli held ministerial positions under Chief Ministers YS Rajashekar Reddy, K Rosaiah, and Kiran Kumar Reddy. However, during the Telangana movement, he resigned from Congress and joined the TRS party. He served as the Minister of Panchayat Raj under KCR’s cabinet.
In 2018, Jupalli suffered a defeat in the Assembly elections and faced uncertainty about his future. His opponent Biram Harshavardhan Reddy switched to the BRS party after defeating him.
To reclaim his political standing, Jupalli consulted with key leaders and decided to rejoin Congress. This move led to his suspension from the BRS party by KCR. Despite this setback, Jupalli campaigned on a Congress ticket and won in the 2023 Assembly elections.
As Congress formed the government, Jupalli’s experience and dedication were recognized. He was sworn in as a Minister in Revanth Reddy’s cabinet on Thursday, marking a new chapter in his political career.
