Hyderabad: The city is celebrating the farm loan waiver with great enthusiasm. Party workers showed their gratitude to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu by performing the ‘Palabhishekam’ ritual on their portraits near Charminar and distributing sweets to the public.
The celebrations were led by Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) president Mohammed Waliullah Sameer. Senior Congress leaders, including Charminar Incharge Mujeebullah Shareef, Bahadurpura Incharge P Rajesh, General Secretary Ch Srinivas, and all block and division presidents, took part in the event.
Waliullah Sameer spoke to the media about the importance of waiving crop loans totaling Rs 31,000 crore for nearly 40 lakh farmers. He called it a historic achievement that was accomplished within eight months of the Congress coming to power. “Congress delivered what it promised in its election manifesto,” he said, adding that the party will fulfill all its promises to the people.
Sameer highlighted that waiving crop loans would have a positive impact on farmers. They can now access new loans from banks and benefit from the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides Rs 15,000 annually. The Congress government also promises to buy all produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), ensuring stable agricultural supply and preventing shortages and inflation.
He thanked the Chief Minister for prioritizing the farm loan waiver and reiterated the government’s commitment to keeping all promises, including those for Old City residents. Sameer also mentioned a Rs 1.50 lakh crore investment for developing the Musi Riverfront, which would boost economic activities. Additionally, he noted that the metro rail project in Old City is becoming a reality, with the foundation stone already laid and work underway.
