Telangana Government Renames Irrigation Project to Honor S Jaipal Reddy
The Telangana government has renamed the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRRLI) scheme after the late S Jaipal Reddy, a respected leader and former Union Cabinet Minister. The chairman of JP Narayana Engineering College (JPNCE), S Ravi Kumar, praised this move as a meaningful tribute to the veteran politician.
To celebrate the occasion, grand festivities were held at JPNCE. Ravi Kumar garlanded Jaipal Reddy’s statue located on the college premises and distributed sweets among the students. Speaking at the event, he thanked Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and the state cabinet for recognizing Reddy’s contributions to public service and the development of the state.
During his speech, Ravi Kumar highlighted Jaipal Reddy’s achievements, noting that he was the only leader from Telangana to have served as a Union Cabinet Minister. He also played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana under the leadership of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Ravi Kumar proudly mentioned that JPNCE was the first place in the district to install a statue of Jaipal Reddy as a mark of respect.
Ravi Kumar further stated that renaming the PRRLI scheme after Jaipal Reddy would ensure his legacy remains alive in the hearts of the people. He emphasized that the irrigation project would significantly benefit the Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda districts, transforming them into fertile, green regions.
The event was attended by JPNCE Principal Dr. P Krishnamurthy, heads of various departments, and students, who all participated in honoring the late leader and celebrating his contributions to the state.
