The Government of Telangana in India has announced that it will provide a government job and a double-bedroom flat to the family of a man who was killed in a shooting incident on a train. The man, Syed Saifuddin, was one of four people killed by a Railway Protection Force constable on the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express. Saifuddin, who lived in Hyderabad, was returning from a visit to Ajmer with his employer when the incident occurred.
Minister for industries and information technology, K.T. Rama Rao, made the announcement in the state Assembly. He stated that the government will offer a job to Saifuddin’s widow and will provide her with a flat under the government’s double bed-room housing scheme. The decision was made in response to a demand raised by Akbaruddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party.
Rama Rao also revealed that the party he is affiliated with, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, will deposit Rs 2 lakh each for Saifuddin’s three daughters. He urged AIMIM to consider providing financial assistance to the family as well. Saifuddin, who hailed from Karnataka’s Bidar district, is survived by three daughters aged six months, six years, and four years.
Owaisi had raised concerns about the shooting, alleging that the constable targeted Muslim passengers with long beards. He claimed that these killings were a result of growing radicalization and the spreading of hatred between Hindus and Muslims for political gain. In response, Rama Rao condemned attempts to spread hatred in the name of religion and called on society to reject such forces.
Rama Rao expressed his hope that peace, communal harmony, and “Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb” would prevail in Telangana. He also praised the state’s chief minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for his efforts in maintaining communal harmony. Rama Rao extended his condolences to Saifuddin’s family and assured them that the Telangana government would provide all possible assistance.
