Hyderabad: Congress senior leader K Jana Reddy has written a letter to the party’s high command, asking them to give priority to MLAs from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts in the upcoming Cabinet expansion. His letter has created a buzz within the party, as many legislators are actively lobbying for Cabinet positions.

In his letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary K C Venugopal, Jana Reddy said that several MLAs from these regions had already requested ministerial positions. He urged the leadership to consider their appeals, saying that it would benefit the people of the area and help strengthen the Congress party in Telangana.

This move is seen as support for Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy, who has been vocal about the lack of representation for MLAs from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. He has openly pushed for his inclusion in the Cabinet.

According to sources, there are currently six Cabinet positions available, but the high command is likely to approve only four. Along with Malreddy Ranga Reddy, other top contenders include Sudarshan Reddy, Rajgopal Reddy (brother of Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy), Aadi Srinivas, Vivek Venkatswamy, and Vakiti Srihari.

If priority is given to candidates from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, Malreddy’s chances of getting a Cabinet post improve. However, this could affect Rajgopal Reddy’s chances, as both belong to the Reddy community. The current Cabinet includes four members from the Reddy community, two each from the BC and SC communities, and one each from Brahmin, Kamma, Velama, and ST communities. Including the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the total number stands at 12.

Meanwhile, MLAs from the Madiga, Lambadi, and BC communities have also appealed to the party leadership for representation. They have reached out to top leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, K C Venugopal, and Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.

Reports suggest that a list of potential candidates has already been sent to the high command. The Cabinet expansion will move forward once the leadership gives its final approval.
