Jammikunta, Huzurabad, and Sircilla are the top three municipalities in Telangana in terms of property tax collection. These municipalities have achieved tax collection rates between 85% and 98%. However, some municipalities, such as Zaheerabad, Nakrekal, and Nalgonda, have performed poorly, collecting only 19% to 26% of their targets.
Jammikunta Municipality ranked first in the state with a 98.04% tax collection rate. Officials set a target of ₹3.06 crore and collected ₹3 crore. Huzurabad Municipality followed in second place, achieving a 97.35% collection rate. The target was ₹2.64 crore, and ₹2.57 crore was collected. Sircilla Municipality secured third place, collecting ₹5.38 crore out of a ₹6.33 crore target, achieving an 84.99% collection rate.
On the other hand, Zaheerabad had the lowest property tax collection rate at just 19.81%. Its target was ₹26.15 crore, but only ₹5.18 crore was collected, leaving a balance of ₹20.97 crore. Nakrekal Municipality performed slightly better, collecting only 21.23% of its ₹7.16 crore target, with ₹1.52 crore collected. In Nalgonda, the target was ₹47.82 crore, but only ₹12.78 crore was collected, resulting in a 26.73% collection rate and a pending amount of ₹35.04 crore.
While some municipalities have excelled in property tax collection, others need to improve their efforts to meet their targets.
