Congress MLA Jagga Reddy Criticizes KCR's Leadership and Governance

Congress MLA and Working President T Jagga Reddy held an unusual press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday to address recent remarks made by BRS Chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). Instead of issuing a direct statement, Jagga Reddy invited the media to ask detailed questions about KCR’s claims, allowing him to systematically counter the allegations against the Congress party.

Jagga Reddy accused KCR of neglecting his responsibilities during his decade-long tenure as Chief Minister. He pointed out that KCR never visited the Secretariat during his time in office. In contrast, Reddy highlighted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his cabinet regularly work from the Secretariat, with Revanth Reddy conducting 300 review meetings to ensure effective governance.

The Congress MLA further criticized KCR for allegedly deceiving the public and exploiting the state for personal gain alongside his family. He accused KCR of disrespecting the Assembly by failing to attend a single session in the past year, despite holding the position of Leader of Opposition. Jagga Reddy noted that it is customary for the Leader of Opposition to participate in Assembly sessions and demand discussions on critical issues. However, KCR has reportedly ignored invitations from the Speaker, setting a poor example of leadership.

Regarding KCR’s plans to organize a massive public meeting with five lakh attendees, Jagga Reddy dismissed the event as a mere show of strength that does not address the state’s pressing issues. He asserted that the Congress party could mobilize even more people but emphasized that productive discussions in the Assembly are more important than large gatherings.

Jagga Reddy also criticized the financial mismanagement of the BRS government, accusing it of leaving behind a debt of seven lakh crore rupees. He stated that the Congress government, under Revanth Reddy, is now burdened with clearing this debt. According to Reddy, the 50,000 crore rupees spent annually on debt servicing could have been better utilized for farmer welfare and support for self-help groups if the state’s financial condition had been managed responsibly.

On KCR’s optimistic claims about defeating Congress in local body elections, Jagga Reddy dismissed them as “daydreams.” He predicted that the BRS would face significant disappointment in the elections and lose public support.

In conclusion, Jagga Reddy called KCR an irresponsible leader and demanded an apology for his alleged derogatory comments about women voters. He accused KCR of disrespecting women by suggesting that their votes were influenced by promises of gold during the last elections.
