Jagga Reddy says Rahul is a Brahmin

Jagga Reddy Defends Rahul Gandhi's Hindu Identity

Telangana Congress working president and Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy accused Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay of using “desperate diversionary tactics.” He responded to Bandi Sanjay’s frequent comments on Hinduism by stating that Rahul Gandhi is a Hindu Brahmin.

Jagga Reddy explained that Rahul Gandhi comes from a strong political family that traces back to Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru, both of whom were Brahmins and wore the sacred ‘Janevu’ (a religious thread worn by Brahmins). He emphasized that Rahul’s family has a long tradition of following Hindu customs.

He also clarified that Indira Gandhi, the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, married Feroze Gandhi, who was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. Feroze took on the Gandhi name due to his dedication to the freedom struggle. Their sons, Rajiv Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi, also followed Hindu traditions, including wearing the ‘Janevu.’

Jagga Reddy stated that this should put an end to the controversy over Rahul Gandhi’s caste. He stressed that the Gandhi family has never used caste or religion for political benefits, focusing instead on the country’s welfare and development.

Regarding Bandi Sanjay’s comments on Sonia Gandhi’s religion, Reddy pointed out that, according to Hindu traditions, a woman is identified by her husband’s religion. Since Rajiv Gandhi was a Hindu Brahmin, Sonia Gandhi is also considered Hindu. He criticized Bandi Sanjay for making negative remarks about Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, reminding people that they sacrificed the Prime Minister’s position and instead supported leaders like PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh for the nation’s progress.

Jagga Reddy also accused the Union Ministers of making false allegations. He defended Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying that he had merely pointed out facts regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste.

He further claimed that while Sonia and Rahul Gandhi refused to take the Prime Minister’s position, Narendra Modi ensured that LK Advani, who played a crucial role in BJP’s rise, was sidelined so that he could become Prime Minister.

In conclusion, Reddy asserted that, for the Gandhi family, power has never been the main goal. Instead, their focus has always been on national development and public service.
