Jagadish refutes claim of Rs 6K-cr loss in power deal as false

In Hyderabad, senior BRS leader G Jagadish Reddy criticized news reports claiming that a power purchase agreement with Chhattisgarh cost Telangana Rs 6,000 crore. He called the government’s statement false and accused the Congress and BJP of trying to send their party chief KCR to jail. Reddy, along with Nalgonda district leaders, held a press conference to address the issue.

Reddy denied that the previous government made mistakes in power purchases. He claimed that the Commission Chairman L Narasimha Reddy was influenced by Congress and BJP leaders during a press conference. Reddy defended the government’s actions and stated that no loss was incurred by the state exchequer. He also highlighted the savings made by the government on inverters and generators.

The BRS leader emphasized that the government provided 24-hour power supply to all sectors within six months. However, he accused the Congress and BJP of spreading misinformation to create doubt among the public. Reddy mentioned that without an agreement with Chhattisgarh, the state would have had to pay Rs 17,000 crore.

Reddy questioned the validity of the article’s claims and criticized the lack of public statements from ministers or officials on the issue. He also challenged BJP leader Bandi Sanjay to demand the prosecution of Raman Singh. Additionally, Reddy defended the decision to set up a plant in Nalgonda and condemned any opposition to the project in the district.

He highlighted that Telangana procured power at a lower rate compared to Tamil Nadu, accusing the BJP of targeting KCR to expand their party in the state. Reddy concluded by stating that both Congress and BJP were conspiring against KCR.
