ISB faculty appointed by WHO to serve on its TB advisory group

Sarang Deo, a professor at the Indian School of Business, has been appointed as a member of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The group’s mission is to help end the TB epidemic by providing guidance to WHO. Professor Deo is known for his research in private sector engagement models for TB control and healthcare management. His appointment will support India’s efforts to fight against TB.

Professor Deo will be part of a 15-member global expert group that will evaluate WHO’s work on eradicating TB. The group is chaired by Ethel Leonor Maciel from Brazil and includes Dr Anurag Bhargava from India. Professor Deo’s research focuses on improving healthcare delivery systems, including studying TB diagnosis pathways in India and innovative healthcare delivery models across continents.

Professor Deo expressed his commitment to eliminating TB by 2025 and hopes to bring insights from his research to the discussions of the advisory group. He believes his appointment comes at a crucial time in the global fight against TB.

In addition to his role at ISB, Professor Deo is also a member of expert committees constituted by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.
