India Calls in Canadian High Commissioner Amidst Escalating Tensions over Menacing Posters

0

India has called in the Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi because of propaganda material being spread in Canada. This material includes posters that threaten Indian diplomats. India has also made a formal diplomatic protest to the government of Justin Trudeau. India expressed its concerns on Monday about the threats to its diplomats through these posters. The posters are promoting a pro-Khalistan rally set to take place on July 8. They specifically target the Indian ambassador to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, and the Consulate General in Toronto, Apoorva Srivastava. Sikh extremists are believed to be behind these posters. They accuse Verma and Srivastava of being involved in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the leader of the Khalistan Tiger Force and a designated terrorist, in Canada.

At the same time, there is a rally being organized to honor Harjit Singh Nijjar, also known as Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He was a Khalistani militant who was deliberately shot and killed in Surrey, Canada on June 18.
