The government of Hyderabad has decided to increase the wages of Midday Meal Workers, according to Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy. The increased wages will be given starting this month and will benefit 54,201 cook-cum helpers who work in various schools in the State.

Minister Reddy stated that this increase in wages is part of the government’s commitment to providing quality education to all children. The higher wages aim to attract and retain good quality Midday Meal Workers and ensure that children receive nutritious and healthy meals.

The Minister also instructed District Education Officers to release funds for the Midday meals on time and ensure that students are provided with quality food. She urged them to increase supervision of the Midday Meal Scheme for effective implementation.

Additionally, Minister Reddy announced that the state government will conduct a state-level achievement survey every year starting this year. This survey aims to identify the minimum abilities of students at the school level and take corrective action to improve the quality of education in the State.

The Minister also urged DEOs to take steps to increase the enrollment percentage of students in primary schools. She emphasized the government’s commitment to providing free and compulsory education to all children up to the age of 14 and highlighted the crucial role DEOs play in achieving this goal.

The meeting where these announcements were made was attended by Education Department Secretary Vakati Karuna, School Education Director Devasena, and other officials.
