Hyderabad: In a major operation right before the Diwali festival, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, caught a man illegally storing firecrackers in a residential area in Saifabad. The raid took place at Moghal’s Emami Mansion on Chintal Basthi Road after the police received reliable information.
The man, identified as 31-year-old G. Sriram, was storing various types of firecrackers in a residential building. He planned to sell these firecrackers during the festive season to make a quick profit. The police seized a large number of firecrackers, including Gaja Fire shots, Elephant crackers, Mercury flower pots, and other fancy firecrackers. The total value of the seized firecrackers is estimated to be around Rs. 5 lakhs.
According to the police, Sriram, who lives in Murad Nagar, Mehdipatnam, and works in a private job, did not have the necessary legal permits to store or sell firecrackers. Storing such dangerous items in a crowded residential area posed a serious threat to the safety of the people living nearby, especially during Diwali when firecracker usage is high.
On 24th October 2024, the Central Zone Task Force teamed up with Saifabad Police to carry out a search at Sriram’s place. The search led to his arrest and the confiscation of the firecrackers, preventing a potential disaster.
Sriram and the seized firecrackers were handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Saifabad Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
The Hyderabad police have once again highlighted the dangers of illegally storing and selling firecrackers. They reminded the public to follow safety rules and report any suspicious activities involving hazardous materials.
This raid shows how seriously the police are working to keep the community safe during festive times. The police have a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal and unsafe practices.
