State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that actions will be taken based on the findings of the IIT study. He also directed the irrigation department to work closely with IIT Roorkee to ensure that the study is completed quickly and efficiently.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, the Minister also discussed the progress of the Nellikallu Lift Irrigation Scheme’s Phase-1. The scheme aims to provide water for irrigation during the upcoming Kharif season. Officials were instructed to expedite the project and link the necessary canals to facilitate water supply.

The Nellikallu Lift Irrigation Scheme is being executed at an estimated cost of ₹664.80 crore and is expected to provide irrigation to 24,624 acres of land. If the first phase is completed before the Kharif season, 7,600 acres can be irrigated. The Minister also emphasized the importance of speeding up work on the link canal between the high-level and low-level canals.

Additionally, it was decided to repair 90.43 kilometers of canals under the AMR and SLBC projects. These repairs will include 60-millimeter concrete lining and will cost ₹42.26 crore, ensuring that water reaches all the required agricultural lands. The Minister mentioned that administrative approvals for constructing the Anumala check dam will also be issued soon.
