This edition of SIH is being organized simultaneously at 51 centers across India, and IIT-H is hosting the event for the first time. The Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, will inaugurate the event virtually. Additionally, Ch Srinivas Rao, the director of the National Academy of Agriculture and Research Management, will officially open the event at the IIT-H campus.

A total of 26 teams, comprising over 200 participants and mentors from across the country, will compete in the finale. Four winning teams will be awarded a cash prize of ₹1 lakh each, with the winners being announced on December 12.

Professor BS Murty, a key figure at IIT-H, highlighted the importance of the event. He described the Smart India Hackathon as more than just a competition, calling it a “dynamic platform that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving.” He emphasized that these qualities are essential for shaping the future of education and industry.

Professor Murty further explained that SIH encourages students to tackle real-world challenges in areas like agriculture, healthcare, sustainability, and technology. By solving these critical issues, he said, the event has the potential to make a positive impact on local communities while helping India establish itself as a global leader in innovation.

The director expressed optimism about the long-term benefits of such initiatives, noting that they could create a ripple effect that drives progress in various fields.
