Hyderabad Police Seize 62 kg of Ganja from Ice Cream Vendor
Hyderabad police have confiscated 62 kilograms of ganja, valued at ₹15.50 lakh, from an ice cream vendor in Chaderghat. The seizure took place on Sunday, following a tip-off.
The arrested individual, identified as 35-year-old Raju Jat, is a resident of Madhya Pradesh. According to police officials, Raju had been involved in selling ganja for the past five years. He procured the illegal substance from a contact named Subhash in Odisha and supplied it to various customers. One of his regular clients was Purushotham, a resident of Chandrapur, Maharashtra.
A few days ago, Raju traveled to Odisha to purchase 62 kilograms of ganja from Subhash. He then stopped in Ramagundam before arriving in Hyderabad, intending to transport the contraband to Maharashtra for delivery to Purushotham.
Raju was waiting at the Nalgonda bus stop to hire an auto rickshaw to Kachiguda railway station. From there, he planned to take a train to Maharashtra. Acting on a tip, police teams apprehended him and seized the ganja, which was packed in a bag.
“A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway,” said Patil Kantilal Subhash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Zone, Hyderabad.
