HYDRA Seeks Assistance from ‘Lake Man of India’ to Revitalize City’s Lakes

Hyderabad: The HYDRA Commissioner, AV Ranganath, announced that the government plans to seek help from Anand Malligavad, also known as the “Lake Man of India,” to revive lakes and water bodies in the Greater Hyderabad area.

Anand Malligavad gave a presentation on how lakes in Bengaluru were protected and restored. This presentation was shared through a video conference that Commissioner Ranganath attended from Hyderabad on Thursday.

Commissioner Ranganath emphasized that restoring the city’s water bodies will require the involvement of all citizens. He mentioned that many lakes have disappeared, and some ponds have turned into dirty pits. He made it clear that conserving these ponds is crucial for protecting the environment and is everyone’s responsibility.

During the presentation, Anand explained how 35 ponds were successfully restored in Bengaluru. The Commissioner said this serves as a great example for Hyderabad to follow.

HYDRA officials also learned about a method used in Bengaluru to filter water in multiple stages, starting from sewage canals. The officials plan to study this process closely and apply it in Hyderabad. The Commissioner added that Anand Malligavad will soon be invited to Hyderabad to help with the project.
