Hyderabad: To improve water conservation and protect the environment, HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath inspected lake development projects in the city. His visit focused on checking the progress of renovation and beautification efforts aimed at improving local water bodies.
During the inspection, Ranganath reviewed the work being carried out at Lime Pond near Tammidikunta, Nanakramguda Lake in Madhapur, and a lake in Borabanda. These lakes are important for replenishing groundwater and maintaining ecological balance. The Commissioner stressed the need to complete dredging activities quickly and efficiently, as these water bodies help in flood management and support biodiversity.
In addition to restoration, Ranganath also looked at ways to beautify the lakes. Plans include planting native trees, building walking tracks, and improving the surroundings to create recreational spaces for residents.
The Commissioner also investigated complaints about construction work within the Kotha Kunta Full Tank Level (FTL) area. He mentioned that MLA Anirudh Reddy had raised concerns about the issue. Ranganath spoke to Vamsi Ram Builders and instructed them to remove the soil dumped into the pond within the next few days. He warned that strict action would be taken if they failed to comply.
To determine the exact boundaries of the pond’s FTL, Ranganath suggested conducting a joint inspection. In response, Vamsi Ram Builders assured him that they would clear the debris from the lake as required.
