Hyderabad's salaried residents celebrate big Income Tax relief

The Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has brought significant relief to middle-class salaried individuals by increasing the income tax exemption limit to Rs 12 lakh. This announcement has been widely celebrated, as the previous exemption limit was Rs 7 lakh.

Sai Teja, a private employee from Nizampet, expressed his happiness over the increase in the tax slab. He called it a “great move” but noted that the overall tax reduction is only 5 percent. He added, “It would have been even better if some additional taxes were removed. However, compared to the previous budget, this year’s budget signals positive economic growth.”

Sravanthi, a private school teacher, described the new tax exemption as a “game changer” for the middle class. She highlighted that the move would lead to more savings and fewer deductions. She also appreciated the budget’s measures to provide relief for tenants, which she felt was another step in the right direction.

B T Srinivasan, General Secretary of the United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations, praised the budget for focusing on middle-class employees. He said, “With no tax up to Rs 12 lakh, people will feel encouraged to spend on essential needs.” He also welcomed the increased fund allocation for stalled housing projects, noting it as a positive step for homebuyers waiting for their dream homes.

Major Shiva Kiran, Vice President of the United Federation of RWAs, echoed similar sentiments. He stated that the tax exemption up to Rs 12 lakh would give middle-class individuals more disposable income. He also pointed out that the provision for two self-occupied properties to be tax-free was a major benefit for the middle class.

Overall, many have applauded the budget for addressing the concerns of the middle class. The changes are being seen as a step toward financial relief and economic growth, providing much-needed support to a significant section of society.
