Hyderabad witnesses frantic shopping on 'Chand Raat'

Hyderabad saw lots of shopping during ‘Chand Raat’, which is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramzan and before Eid. There were late-night markets in the Old City and other parts of Hyderabad. People were excited to shop, and the markets were crowded with shoppers and traders. Muslims celebrate Eid as a gift from Allah after fasting during the holy month. Shopping on Chand Raat is especially popular and busiest at night until the dawn Fajr prayers.

On Friday, lots of people went to Ramzan eateries after seeing the crescent moon. Traffic jams were common as families went shopping. The busiest roads and markets were Charminar, Abids, Nampally, Tolichowki, and Mallepally. Women were especially busy shopping for dresses, jewelry, footwear, and other products.

Afzal, a businessman in the Old City, said that business activities had improved for Eid-ul-Fitr this year. Shopping was better than in previous years, with markets, malls, and shopping centers crowded until early morning. Everyone tried to buy new dresses and shoes for their family, regardless of their economic background. Most people bought ready-made dresses and footwear.

Lad Bazaar was a shopping paradise for women, who could find anything they wanted there. Women also visited salons to adorn their hands, arms, and feet with henna on Chand Raat. The rush for hairdressers was also observed as people prepared for Eid.
