Hyderabad: Celebrating 75 Years of the Indian Constitution

The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. January 24 holds historical significance as it marks the day in 1950 when the original handwritten Constitution of India was signed by 284 members of the Constituent Assembly.

The Indian Constitution is more than just a legal document. It is a masterpiece of art, showcasing intricate designs that reflect India’s diverse history. The artwork honors the country’s socio-cultural, mythological, spiritual, regional, and physical diversity. It symbolizes India’s “Unity in Diversity,” blending its ancient heritage with a vision for the future.

In an earlier initiative, the Regional Passport Office in Hyderabad launched a special edition envelope inspired by the design of the Indian Constitution. This exclusive envelope is being used for passport dispatches as a tribute to the lasting significance of the Constitution.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma was accompanied at the exhibition by J. Snehaja, Head of the MEA Branch Secretariat and Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad. The event also saw the presence of retired Indian Ambassadors and Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB & CBC.

The exhibition will remain open throughout the year at the Regional Passport Office in Hyderabad. It is part of the year-long celebrations commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption, inviting visitors to appreciate its artistic and cultural legacy.
