Hyderabad Removes Illegal Structures Near Khajaguda Bhagirathamma Lake

Hyderabad authorities have begun demolishing illegal structures in the buffer zone of Khajaguda Bhagirathamma Lake. This action comes after local residents raised complaints about encroachments in the area, sparking concern over the misuse of the lake’s surroundings.

In response to these complaints, Hyderabad Commissioner Ranganath recently visited and inspected the site to assess the situation. Following the inspection, the authorities decided to take swift action to reclaim the encroached land.

On December 31, Hyderabad staff carried out the demolition drive, targeting sheds and other illegal structures constructed within the lake’s buffer zone. As part of this operation, they also removed fencing that had been illegally erected over four acres of land. Additionally, more than 20 shops in the area were dismantled.

However, this move has not been without controversy. Traders affected by the demolition expressed their frustration, stating they were forced to vacate their shops within just 24 hours of receiving notices. The entire operation was conducted under heavy police presence to maintain order and ensure safety during the demolition process.
