Hyderabad Experiences a Spectacular Airshow by Suryakiran Aerobatic Team
Hyderabad: Sunday evening turned unforgettable for the residents of the twin cities as the Suryakiran aerobatic team delivered a breathtaking airshow. On special occasions during the event, the audience could even hear the voices of the pilots directly from the cockpit, adding a thrilling touch to the experience.
The team’s performance showcased incredible skill, speed, and precision, leaving the audience spellbound. The spectators waved enthusiastically at the pilots and saluted them with pride, their admiration evident on their faces. The airshow reflected the highest level of professionalism and commitment by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
This aerial display was the centerpiece of the ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu,’ a celebration marking the first anniversary of the Congress government in Telangana. The nine-aircraft team flew over the scenic Hussain Sagar lake, performing jaw-dropping maneuvers. Their colorful jets painted the sky with precise formations, drawing applause not only from the live audience but also from viewers across other parts of the city watching the event on television.
Among the captivated audience were Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, his Cabinet colleagues, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Chairman of the Legislative Council. They were seen thoroughly enjoying the show, ensuring they didn’t miss a second of the spectacular display.
The tank bund area was packed with enthusiastic spectators who cheered as the team performed thrilling aerobatic stunts. Loops, rolls, crosses, and inverted flying left the crowd mesmerized. The highlight of the show was when the pilots waved the tricolor in the sky, igniting a sense of patriotism among onlookers. Flying at speeds of over 800 km/h, the team leader, Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, delivered a heartfelt message from the skies: “Thank you Hyderabad! Mee Premaku Shukhriya!!”
Suryakiran, inducted in 1996, holds the distinction of being Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic team and is among the elite teams worldwide. Over the years, they have performed more than 700 displays across India and represented the IAF at international airshows in countries like China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE.
The team flies the Hawk Mk 132 advanced jet trainer, a state-of-the-art aircraft used to train newly commissioned IAF pilots in fighter flying. This aircraft, proudly made in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), is a testament to the nation’s advancements in aviation technology.
Before the event, the Suryakiran team had the opportunity to meet former fighter pilot and Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy. This interaction brought together generations of aviators, highlighting the unwavering spirit of those who dedicate their lives to serving the nation.
