Hyderabad Prepares for its Inaugural 'Annual Tree Survey'

WWF-India, Hyderabad, has announced the Hyderabad Annual Tree Survey. This citizen science initiative aims to understand the relationship between trees and animals in the city. Volunteers will observe and record the different species of fauna that live in or visit the trees. The survey will involve many civil society organizations, with around 200-300 volunteers expected to join. To ensure comprehensive coverage, volunteers will be divided into teams and the city will be divided into six zones. A few streets and parks in each zone will be surveyed for both avenue and non-avenue trees.

Farida Tampal, State Director of WWF-India, Hyderabad office, said that by observing the world of trees and animals and submitting data during the survey, they hope to achieve two goals. They encourage citizens of Hyderabad to participate in the survey by registering through email at sakbar@wwfindia.net.
