The arrested individuals were identified as Jamal Momin (38), a drug peddler from West Bengal; Shaik Shahbaz (26), who was selling the drugs; and Syed Abdul Majeed (32), a consumer.

According to the police, the prime accused, Jamal Momin, is a native of West Bengal who moved to Hyderabad for work as a mason. After learning about the high demand for narcotic drugs in Hyderabad and nearby areas, he devised a plan to profit from drug sales. Jamal began procuring brown heroin from his hometown at a low price and selling it in Hyderabad to Shaik Shahbaz. Shahbaz, in turn, resold the drugs to individuals struggling with addiction, earning significant profits illegally.

Acting on a tip-off, the task force police, in collaboration with Moghalpura police, apprehended the three accused and confiscated the drugs along with other incriminating evidence. The arrested individuals and the seized items were handed over to the Moghalpura police for further investigation and legal action.

The police highlighted a growing concern about drug addiction among youth and students in the city. They noted that many young individuals who fall into the trap of drug use are engaging in criminal and antisocial activities, causing distress to their families and communities.

The Hyderabad city police issued a strong appeal to youth and students, urging them to avoid drugs at all costs. They also requested parents to monitor their children’s activities closely. Additionally, citizens were encouraged to report any drug-related activities to the police to help eradicate the drug menace and work towards making Hyderabad a drug-free city.
