The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Madhura Nagar Police conducted a joint operation and arrested three people for possessing illegal ganja. The police seized 41 kg of ganja worth ₹18 lakh.
The arrested individuals include Bala Hantal alias Steeve, Raju, and Ranju from Odisha, who are involved in inter-state drug supply. Along with them, Srinivasulu, a ganja peddler, and Abhishek, a delivery boy from Kukatpally, were also taken into custody. The police confiscated 41.13 kg of ganja, ₹40,440 in cash, an electronic weighing machine, a bike, and three mobile phones.
According to the police, Srinivasulu had connections with ganja cultivators at the Odisha-Andhra border. He arranged for the supplier to bring the ganja to Araku, Visakhapatnam, and Hyderabad regularly. He purchased ganja at ₹5,000 per kg and, with Abhishek’s help, sold it in Hyderabad at a much higher price, making a profit of ₹40,000 per kg.
On February 25, the H-NEW team and Madhura Nagar Police caught Srinivasulu, Abhishek, and Bala Hantal with 25 kg of ganja, a KTM bike, and cash. Later, they recovered an additional 15 kg of ganja and an electric packing machine from Srinivasulu’s house in Kukatpally.
H-NEW has urged Hyderabad residents to stay away from drug use. Parents are advised to monitor their children to prevent them from falling into drug addiction. Anyone with information about drug abuse can contact the H-NEW team at 8712661601.
