Man Caught Smuggling Ganja at Secunderabad Railway Station

A man was caught smuggling ganja at Secunderabad railway station on Monday by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The seized ganja, worth ₹1.50 lakh, was found in his possession.

The individual, identified as 26-year-old Shaik, is a construction worker from West Bengal. Police revealed that two other individuals involved in the smuggling operation, Ali Khan from Odisha and Joy from Maharashtra, are currently on the run.

According to the police, Shaik had a history of consuming alcohol, cigarettes, and gutka. Three years ago, he traveled to Odisha to work as a laborer, where he became acquainted with Ali Khan. Ali and his friends would often use ganja, and last month, Ali hired Shaik to transport ganja from Odisha to Dadar in Maharashtra. For each trip, Shaik was reportedly paid ₹10,000.

On January 12, Shaik and Ali Khan went to the Barhampur forest area in Odisha to purchase ganja. The contraband was packed into a backpack and handed to Shaik for delivery. Shaik boarded the Visakha Express, traveling in the rear-side general coach, and arrived at Secunderabad railway station at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

After de-boarding, Shaik learned that his connecting train to Mumbai was departing from platform number seven. While waiting for the Konark Express on platform seven, police noticed him behaving suspiciously. Upon searching him, they discovered the ganja and immediately apprehended him.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are on the lookout for the other two suspects involved in the smuggling operation.
