A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the Hyderabad Police for allegedly shooting his girlfriend’s father. The incident happened after the father sent his daughter to the United States to end her relationship with the man.
The suspect, Balwinder Singh, who was a classmate of the man’s daughter, reportedly fired a shot from an airgun. The shot injured the father in his right eye. The incident took place on Sunday when Balwinder visited the father’s apartment. During the visit, a chaotic situation unfolded, leading to Balwinder firing the airgun, which hit the father in the eye.
CCTV footage from the building showed Balwinder entering the premises with the airgun. After firing the shot, he fled the scene. In addition to injuring the father, the shot also damaged the windshield of the father’s car.
Police arrested Balwinder after a case was filed against him. He has been charged under Section 109 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Saroornagar police station.
In his complaint, the father mentioned that Balwinder had been harassing his daughter under the pretense of love. The father also said that there had been recent arguments between him and Balwinder over this issue.
The injured father is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital, and the police are continuing their investigation into the case.
