Hyderabad loses its status as common capital as APERC relocates office to Kurnool

The AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has moved its office from Hyderabad to Kurnool. This decision was made because the Telangana Government asked the AP Government to vacate all buildings in Hyderabad before June 2, 2024, when Hyderabad would no longer be the common capital for both states.

APERC chairman Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy inaugurated the new office in Kurnool a week before Hyderabad stops being the common capital. Most APERC employees were asked to relocate to Kurnool, with 90 percent of offices already shifted in 2016.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed authorities to move APERC from Hyderabad to Kurnool about a year ago. Some tribunals and judicial offices have already been shifted to Kurnool, while others have been moved to Vijayawada and Guntur.
