Hyderabad Implements Special Measures for Disabled Individuals on Election Day

Hyderabad Deputy DEO Anudeep Durishetti has announced that the Election Commission has made all necessary arrangements to ensure that disabled voters can easily participate in the upcoming elections. As part of this effort, a voter awareness program was held for PWD associations at the GHMC headquarters on Thursday.

In Hyderabad district, a total of 4,119 polling centers have been set up, equipped with the necessary infrastructure to accommodate disabled voters. Additionally, thematic polling stations have been established in 15 constituencies specifically for the disabled community.

To further assist disabled voters, ramps and wheelchairs have been arranged at all polling centers. The Transport Nodal Officer is providing vehicle facilities for transportation needs, which can be accessed through the Awadham App developed by the Election Commission. It is important for PWD associations to convey this information to the disabled community. Furthermore, voter information slips have been distributed to disabled individuals.

Special efforts are being made to ensure that all 22,000 disabled people in the district are able to cast their votes. Hearing impaired individuals are being informed about their right to vote through sign language, while visually challenged voters will have access to Braille-printed ballot papers. NCC and NSS volunteers will also be present on the polling day to assist disabled and senior citizens.

In addition to these measures, home voting has been made available for PWD voters, and a comprehensive campaign is being carried out to encourage disabled individuals to exercise their right to vote.
