A team from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and GHMC’s Food Safety Officer conducted inspections at popular eateries in Hyderabad. They found adulteration and other illegal practices during their visits.

The team inspected restaurants like Kritunga – The Palegar’s Cuisine Restaurant, Hotel Sai Brundavan, Master Chef Restaurant, Rest O Bar, and KFC. They discovered unhygienic food storage and expired food at these establishments.

At Kritunga, 6 kg of Ganga Gold paneer worth Rs 2,100 was found without an FSSAI license or logo. Expired methi malai paste worth Rs 1,800 was also discarded. Additionally, water bottles with low TDS value and unlabeled food items were discovered. Samples were sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Officials found semi-cooked raw food stored improperly at various restaurants. They also noted open kitchen premises without proper barriers to prevent pests and flies from entering. Dustbins were found open without lids as well.

At Master Chef, synthetic food colors were discarded on the spot. Expired milk packets and unlabeled food items were also found and discarded. Similar issues were found at Sai Brundavan, where misbranded jaggery and other items were seized.

Headquarters Rest O Bar in Somajiguda was another restaurant where inspections revealed unsealed and unlabeled food items. Lack of proper safety wear and hygiene standards were noted among the food handlers.

At KFC in Somajiguda, officials found that the true copy of FSSAI license was not displayed as required by regulations.
