Over the weekend, heavy rainfall caused havoc in many areas within the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities. The regions of Boinpally, Maredpally, Chilukalaguda, Begumpet, Patny, Alwal, Tirumalagiri, Kukatpally, Hydernagar, Jeedimetla and surrounding areas received heavy rain resulting in flood water reaching low-lying areas and flooding of all roads.
The heavy rain was accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds, which disrupted power supply in many places. GHMC Disaster Management Teams have been monitoring the situation and trying to ensure there are no further problems.
According to reports, 4.4 cm of rain fell in Gajularamaram in Qutbullapur constituency on Sunday followed by 4 cm rain in Ramachandrapuram and 3.6cm in Charlapalli. The Meteorological Department has stated that the surface trough is continuing from South Karnataka across Jharkhand, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha causing heavy rains.
The weather department has warned that light rains are likely to occur at many places across Telangana on Sunday as well. There is also a chance of heavy rains in North Andhra in AP.
