Hyderabad Comic Con 2024: A Massive Success
The 8th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Arena Hyderabad Comic Con, powered by Crunchyroll, concluded on November 17, 2024, after three days filled with exciting performances, cosplay, and all things pop culture. This was the first time the event lasted three days, and it attracted over 40,000 fans from across India.
Held from November 15 to 17, the event brought together fans of comic books, anime, gaming, and pop culture for an unforgettable weekend. Organized by Comic Con India in partnership with Nodwin Gaming, this year’s Comic Con was the biggest pop culture event in Hyderabad so far. It featured activities like cosplay competitions, gaming tournaments, and more.
Cosplayers played a huge role in this year’s event. Over 3,000 participants dressed up as characters from popular anime series like Chainsaw Man, Berserk, and Solo Leveling, as well as iconic comic book characters such as Wolverine, Deadpool, and Spider-Man. Fans could also enjoy gaming zones and interactive events, making the convention a dream come true for pop culture enthusiasts.
A big part of the event was live performances by popular comedians and entertainers. Harsh Gujral, who performed on the last day, said, “The crowd here in Hyderabad was incredible! The energy was so high, I went beyond my scheduled set because I was having such a great time.” Comedian Azeem Banatwalla agreed, saying, “The enthusiasm of the Hyderabad crowd is unmatched.”
Local comedian Syed Bashaar, performing at Comic Con for the first time, was amazed by the creativity of the cosplayers and the gaming zones, especially the chess zone, which was a pleasant surprise for many attendees.
The event also showcased a strong lineup of comic creators, including local artist Rajesh Nagulakonda and other well-known names like Abhijeet Kini and Josh Blaylock, an international comic book author. Fans had the chance to meet these creators, attend special sessions, and explore a wide range of indie and mainstream comics. Popular franchises like Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece were also featured, along with Indian comics like Amar Chitra Katha.
The exhibition space was packed with merchandise from popular series, and experiential zones like those of Crunchyroll, Maruti Suzuki Arena, and Lenovo Legion drew large crowds. The Yamaha experience zone was particularly popular among fans.
Jatin Varma, Founder of Comic Con India, expressed his gratitude for the event’s success, saying, “The passion of our fans in Hyderabad has been amazing. We’re thrilled that we could extend the event to three days this year, and we can’t wait to bring even more excitement next year!”
Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Nodwin Gaming, also praised the event, calling it a “fantastic milestone.” He highlighted how the combination of pop culture and gaming made this year’s Comic Con extra special.
One of the main attractions was the 5th anniversary of DreamHack India, which featured LAN tournaments, meet-and-greets with top content creators, and esports competitions. The gaming zones were a huge hit with fans, making it a must-visit for gamers.
As Hyderabad Comic Con 2024 ended, fans left the event buzzing with excitement, already looking forward to next year. The success of the event sets the stage for upcoming Comic Con India events in Delhi (December 6-8, 2024) and Bengaluru (January 18-19, 2025).
For now, the energy and excitement of Hyderabad Comic Con will linger in the hearts of fans as they continue to celebrate their love for comics, cosplay, gaming, and pop culture.
