Hyderabad Book Fair Attracts Huge Crowds and Celebrates Young Authors

The 37th Hyderabad Book Fair has been a massive success this year, drawing large crowds, particularly on weekends. The fair offers an extensive collection of fiction, non-fiction, and other reading materials, with a special focus on showcasing the works of young authors. Visitors also had the unique opportunity to interact directly with these emerging writers.

One of the main attractions of the event was the writer’s hall, which fascinated book lovers. This space allowed authors to engage directly with readers, making it a memorable experience for attendees. The fair featured about 347 stalls, including renowned publishers like Sage, Penguin, PalaPitta, and Emesco. In addition to book displays, the event hosted a variety of activities, such as guest sessions with prominent authors and poets, literary debates, book launches, and cultural performances.

Sampreeth Shivaiah, an agricultural engineering lecturer turned author, shared his experience at the fair. “I have written several books, including Samudram Dachina Keratalu, Maarani Manushula Kathalu, and Mahabhoomi Mahakavyam. Most of my work is in Telugu, with some in English. This is the first time I have launched these books at the fair. Initially, I was nervous as the crowd seemed sparse, but later, the response was overwhelming,” he said.

Another young author, Susmitha Manasa, who wrote The Blurb, noted the enthusiasm among visitors. “It’s heartening to see that excitement for books is still alive. Many young readers visited me, interacted with me, and asked about my love story novel,” she said.

Sunil Rao, a third-year degree student, expressed his appreciation for the fair. “From history to poetry, heritage to literature, culture to politics, and comics to humor, the Book Fair offers a wide range of subjects. I especially love the writer’s hall, where I can meet authors and learn about their books,” he said.

Dr. Bhuma Srinivas Rao, a graphologist, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of such events. “Seeing the massive crowds, it’s clear that book lovers are still passionate. To nurture this enthusiasm, fairs like this should be organized more frequently, perhaps even monthly. I’ve been attending this fair for years and enjoy exploring the vast collection of books displayed,” he remarked.

The Hyderabad Book Fair continues to celebrate literature, culture, and the joy of reading, leaving both authors and visitors inspired.
