Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught an officer from the Telangana State Commercial Taxes department on Wednesday. The officer was taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh.
The officer’s name is Sridhar Reddy, and he is the deputy commercial tax officer of Punjagutta Circle-1. He was taking the bribe from a private firm owner to finalize an audit and close a notice from the department. The businessman reported this to the ACB.
The ACB registered a case and caught Sridhar Reddy in the act. They recovered the bribe money from him. A chemical test showed that his office table had traces of the bribe.
After his arrest, Sridhar Reddy was taken to the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court at Nampally. The case is still being investigated.
