As the new academic year approaches, the Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) is pushing for private schools to establish parents’ committees for better transparency and communication. Many schools in the city lack such bodies, and HSPA believes they are essential for keeping parents informed and involved in school affairs.
Despite years of advocacy, the government has not taken action on fee regulation, disappointing HSPA members. The High Court ordered the Telangana government to finalize guidelines two years ago, but little progress has been made. K Venkat Sainath, joint secretary of HSPA, expressed frustration with the lack of implementation of a parents’ committee provision outlined in the AP Education Act.
Murali Radha, a member of HSPA, highlighted the need for a fee regulatory committee and parents’ committees in schools to address increasing school fees and improve communication between parents and school management. The association hopes that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s promise to focus on education will lead to meaningful change for parents.
In summary, HSPA is advocating for parents’ committees in every private school to ensure transparency and communication, as well as pushing for a fee regulatory committee to address rising school fees. The government’s lack of action on these issues has left HSPA members disappointed and frustrated.
