HRDA calls on Telangana government to enhance healthcare services

The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) in Hyderabad has called on the State government to improve primary and secondary healthcare. They are urging the government to increase the number of primary and community health centers based on Rural Health Statistics 2021-22. They are also requesting the release of a direct recruitment notification for CAS specialist vacancies in Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad.

On Wednesday, the HRDA presented their concerns to Health Secretary SAM Rizvi. HRDA President K Mahesh Kumar stated that there is a deficit of 19% and 84% in PHCs and CHCs respectively. They believe this issue needs to be addressed immediately in order to strengthen and improve primary and secondary healthcare in Telangana.

The HRDA has asked the secretary to increase the number of medical officers in each PHC to four for 24/7 services. This would prevent the deterioration of rural public health due to the treatment of unqualified individuals. They argue that this is a more effective solution than simply redistributing staff.

Furthermore, the doctors are urging the government to release a direct recruitment notification to fill 1100 CAS specialist doctor vacancies in TVVP through MHSRB. This would help improve secondary healthcare. They are also requesting a GO for calendar year recruitment to fill vacancies in DME and DH on a regular basis.

Overall, the HRDA is advocating for improvements in primary and secondary healthcare in Telangana by increasing the number of health centers and filling vacant positions with qualified medical professionals.
