HRDA Appeals to Hyderabad State Government to Assign 85% Management Quota Seats to Local Residents

The Health Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) in Hyderabad is asking the State government to give 85% of management quota seats to students from Telangana and only 15% to students from other states. The president of HRDA, K Mahesh Kumar, has brought this issue to the attention of the health secretary, SAM Rizvi. He pointed out that the government of Andhra Pradesh has already reserved 85% of management seats for local students and only 15% for students from other states. However, in the KNRUHS prospectus for management quota seats counselling, it was stated that students from all states can participate. This is unfair to Telangana students, so the doctors are asking the health secretary to make sure that 85% of management quota seats are reserved for local students.

Additionally, the HRDA has taken the matter to the High Court to fight for justice for Telangana students. Mahesh Kumar stated that their legal guidance has already helped Telangana students by preventing them from losing 15% of PG seats in Andhra Pradesh. They filed a writ petition in the AP High Court when the Telangana government was unable to address the issue. The AP government had released a GO 101 removing 15% of increased PG seats in existing colleges for Telangana students.
