HMWSSB intensifies efforts to ensure smooth emergency water pumping operations

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has ensured that there will be no issues with drinking water supply in the upcoming days. Plenty of drinking water is available in the reservoirs, so residents do not need to worry. This assurance was given by M Dana Kishore, principal secretary of MA&UD, during a meeting about the drinking water supply situation.

Due to a decrease in underground water levels this year, there has been an increased demand for tanker water. The water board is supplying 100 Million Litres per Day (MLD) more water compared to last year, and they are prepared to provide another 100 MLDs if needed. More customers have booked tankers this year, with the average water supply per day increasing from 12 MLDs to 20 MLDs.

Plans are in place to supply 1,200 trips by 300 tankers per day in the future. Additionally, arrangements are being made for more filling stations and points within the city and ORR. The goal is to deliver tankers within 12 hours of booking. Small water treatment plants are being set up on Gandipet Conduit to purify water from Himayat Sagar and Usman Sagar, with 200 water kiosks planned at various public locations.

To improve the underground water level, it is recommended to construct boreholes. Consumers who currently rely on tankers for water are being encouraged to consider building boreholes at their homes. These efforts aim to address the increased demand for water and ensure a sustainable supply in the city.
